A well known sight of London, it is a combined bascule and suspension bridge crossing the River Thames close to the Tower of London. The bridge is 244m long and each tower is 65m high. It was built between 1886 and 1894 using a design submitted by Sir Horace Jones. His design was chosen out of 50 that had been submitted. Did you know that the bascules are raised about 1000 times a year?
